Artist Statement
As a practicing artist and dedicated high school art teacher, my life is a constant dialogue between creative principles and the unbridled exploration of my own artistic vision. This upcoming solo exhibition, a culmination of years spent observing and internalizing the landscape, represents a deeply personal journey into the realm of abstract acrylic painting.
My process begins with a visceral response to a specific environment – the interplay of light and shadow across a mountain range, the undulating rhythms of a waterfall,. These initial impressions are then filtered through memory and emotion, translated onto large canvases with bold, sweeping strokes and layers of vibrant acrylic paint.
I am less concerned with literal representation and more interested in capturing the essence of a place, its underlying energy, and the emotional resonance it evokes. Each piece is a unique expression of my ongoing exploration of color, form, and texture, meticulously crafted to engage the viewer’s senses and spark their own personal interpretation.
I invite you to immerse yourself in these landscapes, to allow them to transport you to places both familiar and unknown. I hope you find a piece that resonates with you deeply, a landscape that will continue to inspire and enrich your life for years to come.
