Cynthia Moser Artist Statement

Enjoying drawing and painting as a child, Cynthia was drawn to the beauty of watercolors early, admiring her uncle’s paintings who was a magazine illustrator in New York City.

Cynthia took art classes throughout her educational years. After her children were grown, she began taking watercolor lessons and workshops. She studied under many well known artists.

After moving to Hendersonville, N.C. she joined the Watercolor Society of N.C. and became a signature member and earning the Gold Award for being accepted 10 times in their annual shows. She has won various awards over the years in the Hendersonville Art League. She is also a member of the Tryon Painters and Sculptors.
Her artwork has been accepted in the downtown ArtScape Banner Project 5 times. She has participated in the Open Studio Tour almost from the beginning.

Cynthia paints florals and still life in bright and colorful transparent colors. She also enjoys painting people and animals. She enjoys doing commission work. She likes to play the darks against the lights to portray excitement and interest. She blends pure pigments together on paper and captures the light that is found in the subject. Painting in watercolor is a passion for Cynthia and an exciting challenge.

She is represented by ArtMob Studios and Marketplace in Hendersonville, N.C. She is also seen on the walls of many customers and friends throughout the U.S.

Sharyn Misenheimer Fogel

Artist Statement:
“I was born in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Eventually I will die here (not any time soon, I hope.) In the meantime, I intend to paint everything about this area that I love. That includes mountains, trees, old barns, white squirrels, and anything else that catches my eye. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I have quite an eye for finding beauty in some bizarre places. I may see something and paint it twenty years later, but I will never forget that image, and the way the light was hitting it. WNC is my home. I have no plans to leave, but I do plan to paint whatever I like that’s not moving! I hope you enjoy my images as much as I enjoyed painting them.”

Sharyn Misenheimer Fogel, as a Brevard native, has artfully captured majestic mountain views for over 40 years. She attended Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, UNC Asheville, and Brevard College. She studied portrait painting with Roman and Constantine Chatov in Atlanta, Georgia for 3 years, and participated in many workshops with well- respected teachers including Joe Miller, Tony Couch, Daniel Greene, Sue Russell, Eileen Fabian, Herbie Rose, Dean Davis, and Michael Del Priore.

Sharyn displays her work at Number 7 Arts in Brevard, Mountain Made in the Grove Arcade in Asheville, and by appointment in her home studio in Brevard (828) 884-2254.

Sharyn is a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, and is a member and past president of the Transylvania Art Guild. In 2003, she had two paintings selected for the Southern Living House at Brookgreen Gardens, Pawley’s Island, SC.

She now lives in Brevard, NC with her husband Tad, her granddaughter Summer, and dog “Zoey.”
