New! Worship Groups Now forming!

At Grace, we believe that church isn’t a service or building. At its core, church is family. And although the pandemic has disrupted our normal church rhythms for the foreseeable future, we refuse to give up on our mission to live for God’s world, as God’s family, in the joy of God’s gospel. We believe that worshiping together is essential to living out our mission. Click here for all the details & registration!

Readings & Lyrics: 10.18.2020

OPENING PRAYER: Mission of the Church
(adapted from The Book of Common Prayer)
ALL: Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through the finished work of your Son. Inspire our witness to Him, that all may know and extend the power of Christ’s forgiveness and the hope of His resurrection; who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 149:1,4-6,9
LEADER: Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints.

4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory;

ALL: 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,

SONG 1: How Deep the Father’s Love For Us:
How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.

SONG 2: Highlands (song of ascent)
Verse 1:
O how high would I climb mountains
If the mountains were where You hide
O how far I’d scale the valleys
If You graced the other side

Verse 2:
O how long have I chased rivers
From lowly seas to where they rise
Against the rush of grace descending
From the source of its supply

In the highlands and the heartache
You’re neither more or less inclined
I would search and stop at nothing
You’re just not that hard to find

So I will praise You on the mountain
And I will praise You when the mountain’s in my way
You’re the summit where my feet are
So I will praise You in the valleys all the same
No less God within the shadows
No less faithful when the night leads me astray
You’re the heaven where my heart is
In the highlands and the heartache all the same

Whatever I walk through
Wherever I am
Your Name can move mountains
Wherever I stand
And if ever I walk through
The valley of death
I’ll sing through the shadows
My song of ascent x2

My song of ascent woah woah
My song of ascent woah woah

NEW TESTAMENT READING: 1 Corinthians 1:27-31
LEADER: The Bible is one complete story all pointing to the finished work of Christ and the hope of the gospel. Our Central Text for today is found in the Old Testament and so our New Testament Reading related to this week’s message and themes is found 1 Corinthians 1.

LEADER: 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: ‘Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.

MESSAGE TITLE: The Writing On The Wall

RESPONSE: Communion

SONG 3:Only a Holy God:
Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God

What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendour outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer His only Son
Who else invites me to call Him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God!
Come and behold Him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

BENEDICTION: 2 Peter 3:18
LEADER: 18 May you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Current Series

This fall we turn to the book of Daniel. Of Kings and Kingdoms is our theme: his faithfulness to God in service to multiple foreign kings of multiple kingdoms, with the Kingdom that will outlast them all looming in his mind and anticipation.

It's more than a fiery furnaces and lions den.

Our Outdoor Sunday worship services currently being held at 10am in the main parking lot. We will continue to offer online worship services.

The Writing On The Wall

Oct 18

The idiom about the writing on the wall--that something unwelcome is about to happen--stems from Daniel 5. This story of God’s judgment on a prideful and idolatrous king should give us pause to consider the story being written about our own...
